MCDA is pleased to announce the 2013 Award Winners (awards were given at the annual conference)

Dr. Lee Richmond won the Lifetime Achievement Award to recognize her lifetime commitment and ongoing contributions and impact on the Career Development field.  There are too many great things to say about Dr. Richmond and I think all agree she is most worthy of this award.

 Karen Chopra won the Outstanding Career Professional Award to recognize her excellence and important contributions to the Career Development field, especially her creation of the Integrative Career Counseling (ICC) model

Maria Schaeffer won the President’s Award to recognize her passionate commitment to MCDA and her creative, positive, "can do" spirit.  Maria was a huge help this year and is the one who made the conference run so smoothly!

Jason Alba won the Innovative Use of Technology Award to recognize his innovative use of technology in the field of career development, especially the creation of JibberJobber.com

Stevenson University won the Career Planning Award to recognize its outstanding efforts to facilitate the career planning of others.  Stevenson lives and breathes its mission every day.

Trinity Washington University won the Diversity Award to recognize its exceptional efforts to address diversity issues in career services and for making higher education accessible to many people who otherwise may not have attended college

Excelsior College won the Corporate Sponsor Award to recognize this organization's loyal support of MCDA's annual conference – besides having been Exhibitors the last few years, they were the first ever Silver Sponsor this year

Our Mission:

The Maryland Career Development Association’s (MCDA) mission is to promote a forum where career professionals network and share resources to ensure the quality of career services to the standards of the National Career Development Association.

 

MCDA is:

  • A state organization devoted to maintaining and promoting ethical standards and professionalism.
  • A forum for innovative and creative ideas and professional development.
  • A roundtable to increase awareness of the new global workplace and its effect on careers of the future.
  • An opportunity to deal with rapid change that demands flexibility and awareness. 

 

Affiliations

MCDA is a division of the Maryland Association for Counseling and Development (MACD) which in turn is a branch of the American Counseling Association (ACA). MCDA is a state division of the National Career Development Association (NCDA) which is in turn a division of ACA. When you join MCDA, you will be offered the option to become a member of MACD. While recommended, membership in NCDA and ACA is not required.
